Kamloops to host the 2013 Skate Canada Adult Figure Skating Championships

OTTAWA, ON: Kamloops, B.C., has been selected as the host city for the 2013 Skate Canada Adult Figure Skating Championships. The event will run from April 5-7, 2013 at the McArthur Island Sport and Events Centre. Hundreds of adult skaters from across the country will compete in four disciplines: free skate, interpretive, ice dance and synchronized skating.

?Adult skating is one of the programs that we are most proud of at Skate Canada. We take great pride in helping Canadians stay active as they mature by giving them the opportunity to skate and stay competitive through these championships,? said William Thompson, Skate Canada CEO. ?We are excited to be heading to Kamloops for this event and we are sure the experience the city and the venue will give our adult skaters will be top notch.?

"With the strength of the Valleyview Skating Club paired with the City's great two sheet facility, this event will see the skating community working together to put Kamloops on the figure skating map," commented Kamloops Mayor Peter Milobar.

Skate Canada offers recreational, test and competitive opportunities to adult skaters through our AdultSkate program. Programs available to adult skaters include CanSkate, STARSkate, CanPowerSkate, and SynchroSkate.
